Virgil Herring, PGA
Virgil is the Director of Golf at the Ensworth School and Performance Center in Nashville, TN. A golf instructor for two-plus decades, Virgil has taught more than 150 NCAA scholarship recipients and several PGA Tour professionals, including two former PGA and Web.com Tour winners. Two of his top amateur players have reached No. 1 in the NCAA rankings.
Prior to joining the Ensworth School and Performance Center, Herring was Director of Instruction at the River Club Golf & Learning Center in Clarksville and the Golf Academy at Westhaven (Golf Club) in Franklin, TN. The five-time Middle Tennessee Chapter PGA Teacher of the Year (2002, ’03, ’05,’06 and ’15) and 2003 and 2015 Tennessee Section PGA Teacher of the Year, Herring hosts a regular lessons series on CBS Nashville on Sunday nights, and was the former lead anchor on PGA Tour Radio’s Golf Talk America radio show. He also hosts Talking Golf with Virgil Herring on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville, and is author of The Golf Journal: Improving Your Game, a statistical-based journal that helps you identify where you are losing strokes on the course and then provides a game plan to get those strokes back and significantly improve your game.
Virgil is an expert in video swing analysis, TrackMan and FocusBand Mind Training, and is a FocusBand Performance Coach and Callaway Master Staff Professional.
