Joe is the PGA Head Golf Professional and Director of Instruction at Treetops Resort in northern Michigan. A 2005 graduate of Ferris State University’s Professional Golf Management Program, Joe became the first student in the program’s storied history to successfully obtain his full Class “A” PGA membership prior to graduation.
After graduating from Ferris, Charles headed south to Kalamazoo Country Club, where he worked alongside his mentor, Dick Stewart, and spent his winter months as an Assistant Professional at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Jupiter, Fla. He then spent nine months as a Golf Professional at Greg Norman’s Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla., before moving into his first Head Professional role at The Dye Preserve Golf Club in Jupiter. There, Charles was instrumental in bringing several USGA qualifying events to The Dye Preserve, including the 2007 Mid-Am Qualifier, 2008 U.S. Open Local Qualifier, and 2009 U.S. Senior Open Qualifier.
Prior to joining Treetops, Joe spent several years as the Director of Instruction for GolfTEC in Atlanta, Ga., during which time he was honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Instruction Award three times. He also became an expert in the use of many different golf technologies, and continues to specialize in video analysis, bio-mechanical motion analysis and club fitting. A Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified Instructor and Eyeline Golf 4PE Certified Instructor, Joe brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and technological expertise to the Treetops Golf Academy teaching staff.
