Kandi is the owner of Kandi Comer Golf, located at Old Trail Golf Club in Crozet, VA, just outside of Charlottesville. Ranked among the top coaches in the state of Virginia by Golf Digest magazine, Kandi has been teaching professionally for 25 years and is considered one of the top coaches in the Middle Atlantic PGA Section.
An Honorable Mention U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Junior Instructor, Kandi specializes in developing juniors from the beginner all the way to the elite level. More than 60 of her students have gone on to play college golf, and she has had players compete in several USGA championships, including the U.S. Junior Amateur, U.S. Amateur, U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Open. Kandi also taught two-time LPGA major champion and TV analyst Dottie Pepper. In 2005 Kandi was selected as the MAPGA’s Junior Golf Leader of the Year for her outstanding work with juniors.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Kandi was a fine amateur player herself, competing alongside Pepper for the U.S. in the 1986 Curtis Cup Matches against Great Britain & Ireland. Kandi played in five U.S. Women’s Open Championships, finishing 15th in 1987 at Plainfield Country Club in New Jersey.
Prior to bringing her academy to Old Trail in March 2013, Kandi was the Director of Instruction at the Kandi Comer Golf Academy at Glenmore CC for 10 1/2 years. She also held the position of Director of Golf Operations at Glenmore for 17 years. Kandi’s mentors and biggest influencers include the late Davis Love, Jr. and noted sports psychologist Dr. Bob Rotella.
