Kirk is the owner of the Golf Channel Academy with Kirk Jones, located at Windsor Parke Golf Club in Jacksonville, FL. A two-time North Florida PGA Northern Chapter Teacher of the Year (2005, 2007), Jones started teaching golf instruction at the tender age of 18 and has more than 35 years of coaching and club fitting experience. A long-time PGA of America and Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) member, Jones has conducted more than 50,000 hours of lessons and is considered a leading expert in the relevant application of golf teaching tools and technology.
In addition to his coaching accolades, Kirk has been an accomplished player on the junior, collegiate, amateur and professional (non-PGA Tour) levels, winning more than 100 various professional and amateur golf events spanning five consecutive decades. While playing for Centenary College of Louisiana, he was a member of the 1982 NCAA All-Star team after finishing as the top underclassman in the 1981 NCAA Golf Championships.
A pioneer in using ball flight data and full swing video, in 2006 Kirk released the DVD, The Fundamental Golf Swing Modernized and Simplified, a comprehensive video on accelerated teaching and learning. He followed that up in 2012 with the release of his first book, The Fundamental Golf Swing 2013, which bridges the gap between old-school fundamental teachings and modern-day, technology-driven fundamentals. A newer book entitled, Golf Fundamentals: A Guide to Successfully Learning, Playing and Enjoying the Sport, is also now available. It focuses more on beginners and is particularly helpful to golfers with existing flaws, misconceptions or confusion.
